Retail Sector
The Outcome:
One Network. One Security Model. Built to Scale.
A large iconic Australian high street discount department retailer, serving millions of customers through an extensive network of stores and digital channels. The organisation operates at significant scale across everyday products, homewares, apparel, toys and consumer goods, with a highly integrated sourcing and supply chain model designed to deliver quality products at consistently competitive prices. Its focus on affordability, customer experience and continuous innovation makes technology a critical enabler across stores, e-commerce, supply chain and corporate operations.
The Challenge:
A major Australian retailer with an extensive store network and international sourcing and supply-chain operations across APAC was modernising the technology underpinning its stores. Its existing carrier-based network could not deliver consistent, end-to-end service levels across its APAC sites, and management was fragmented across multiple providers and platforms — leaving gaps in performance visibility and security enforcement at the store edge.
The retailer needed a network and security environment that could scale with its store footprint without heavy upfront capital expenditure, deliver enterprise-grade security consistently at every site, and be run as a single managed service. Consistent performance and security for cross-border traffic between its APAC stores and its sourcing operations was a particular priority.
The Solution:
The recommended solution was validated through a proof of concept ahead of production rollout, giving the retailer the opportunity to confirm performance, security and user experience before committing to full deployment.
ASV designed and implemented a site-based SASE architecture, with ANAP appliances deployed at each store over Aryaka's private backbone. The environment integrates SD-WAN, next-generation firewall, secure web gateway, DNS and URL filtering, intrusion prevention and anti-malware as a single managed security stack, backed by 24/7/365 fully managed network and security services and a subscription-based commercial model requiring zero CAPEX. The managed-service scope, service levels and commercial terms are defined in a Statement of Work (SOW) between the retailer and ASV, with site resilience provided through appliance high-availability and dual-ISP options and security policy applied consistently across the store estate.
The transformation moved the retailer from a fragmented, CAPEX-heavy carrier solution to a modern, cloud-delivered SASE environment that scales site-by-site as the footprint grows. Initial sites are live and in active rollout, with the Statement of Work scaling the deployment across the remaining estate under a single, OPEX-only managed-service relationship.
Consolidating network and security into one managed platform has delivered improved security and visibility across the APAC store footprint with zero CAPEX — consistent, enterprise-grade protection at every store, better performance through Aryaka's private backbone, and a predictable subscription cost model, all managed end-to-end by ASV so the retailer can scale its store network without proportionally increasing internal technology headcount.

The Outcome:
High Speed Secure China Connectivity
A technology consulting and software engineering organisation that helps Australian enterprises navigate complex technology challenges and deliver digital transformation. Combining strategy, product thinking, design and engineering expertise, the organisation works across the technology lifecycle — from advisory and solution design through to software delivery, transformation and ongoing optimisation. Its experience spans
An Australian-owned technology consulting and software delivery firm runs distributed development teams based in China. Its delivery model depends on those teams having fast, reliable access to Australian-hosted applications, code repositories and cloud tooling — but its legacy VPN could not deliver it. Cross-border access from China was inconsistent and slow, with high latency and poor throughput undermining developer productivity. Reaching cloud services such as Google Workspace and GitHub over the China-to-Australia path was a particular pain point, with the performance and reliability of those tools directly affecting the development teams' day-to-day work.
The firm needed to give its China-based users dependable, high-performance access to AU-hosted apps and repositories, make cloud and SaaS tooling usable and fast across the cross-border path, and run it all over infrastructure engineered for that route rather than the unpredictable public internet.
ASV provided SD-WAN advisory and led the Aryaka platform integration to solve the cross-border performance problem for the firm's China user base. The key is Aryaka's network architecture: China-based users connect to a local Aryaka Point of Presence (POP) in-country, and traffic then rides Aryaka's private Layer 2 backbone from China to Australia rather than traversing the public internet and the congestion and unpredictability of the cross-border links.
On top of this, ASV implemented Aryaka's SaaS optimisation to make cloud tooling usable and fast for the China-based teams — most importantly reliable, accelerated access to Google Workspace and GitHub. The solution delivers access through a unified client, with users connecting into AU-hosted applications and code repositories over the private core. Delivering that traffic over the private L2 backbone, with identity- and posture-verified sessions, means developers could collaborate and commit code without fighting the network.
Aryaka replaced the firm's legacy VPN. Its China-based developers now connect to a local in-country Aryaka POP and reach AU applications and repositories over Aryaka's private Layer 2 backbone through a single unified client. Routing traffic onto the private backbone rather than the public internet delivered markedly lower, more consistent latency and higher throughput on the China-to-Australia path, and with Aryaka's SaaS optimisation in place, everyday cloud tooling — Google Workspace and GitHub among it — became dependable and performant from China. Together these removed a persistent drag on developer productivity, and the environment scales with the team as it grows — all delivered as a managed service by ASV.
